I started using ynab. I just paid of my credit card on the first and 1. It's coming in as inflow? And 2. I already 'paid it off' with each transition?
m
you need to recategorize the transaction as a trasnfer. It must not have been picked up automatically
w
When I click choose category there's no credit card payment option.
m
right, change the payee not the category
w
I should choose the bank account that paid it off.
?
m
yeah it will say like To: account or From: account depending on which side of the equation you are working with. If you categorize From then it will automatically create a transaction in the To account to balance it out. If it doesn't match up automatically to the actually transfer in the other account you'll need to delete the real one and have the automatically created one be the new source of truth.

@mysterious-tomato-10057 i think a cc payment is entered as “payment:” and not a transfer
m
yes! payment not trasnfer
w
Ok so it doesn't get a category at all.
m
right! bc it's just moving money around. it's not money coming in or out. (this confuses everyone dont' worry)
g
If the credit card has a category, the transaction needs to use that category.
m
what do you mean? There is no concept of categorizing payments or transfers
w
Ok i think I did it Thanks so much

i think you are confusing this with credit cards that aren't linked to ynab, which would then need a category.
