I had a deposited check bounce. How would I categorize that in YNAB? I am ultimately expecting to get the deposit but it will likely take time until I can get a new check. Do I just dump this in an “other” category?

Since the deposit and the bounce will cancel out, I don't think it'll make much difference besides for categorization, but I'd put it with whatever category it is from based on what the check is for.

It’s from an hsa account that was refunding medical expenses. I’m a bit surprised that this could even happen.

I'd categorize it as medical.
