I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing here when you are saying budgeting. Budgeting isn't the act of categorizing transactions or writing them down. It's an ongoing effort to be intentional with aligning your dollars to your values, and yes, I believe that should be an ongoing and interactive process. Softwares like YNAB make this process of alignment easier, by pulling from your accounts so you can categorize and keep track of how much is in each envelope, but you can do the same thing in other ways, like using cash only and physical envelopes with category names on each envelope.

Israel is really annoying there's such a thing called openbanking, which is used by companies like riseup. This is the only reliable way to transfer banking info. The israeli-ynab-updater relies on scraping which can break sometimes, and relies on your password, so you need a password for everything, which changes at least twice a year as far as I can tell, the openbanking system is not open to "private" devs
