I’d make a separate line item. Sometimes I use a rotating category for things like this to buy and change the name and goal.

What category would you put a new mop or broom if you needed one?

Lol there are definitely robots I could imagine hiring (seen some that fold laundry) but idk how hirable a robovacuum is… I guess if yours is that good it’s that good 😂

Pretty sure robot vacuum is considered children's entertainment for the first month

lol it may come down to what category had the biggest reduction in spend as an outcome of the robovacuum purchase. - that’s how I narrow down my miscellaneous category at home… like when I justify a purchase I try to think about what spending category this purchase helps me alleviate the most. And when there is no category we call it miscellaneous so that no one gets mad at each other for having too much fun 😅

Unless it’s something that you are literally using to replace a specific expense, like cutting down on cleaning help and investing in a robot vacuum instead, I would categorize this as something closer to the fun category. Kind of a luxury item but something you’d like to save up towards us and just put any some monthly towards your budget for luxury gadgets
