Is there a reason to put money in a HYSA instead of buying the higher yielding VUSXX etf? (Other than the fdic insurance)

I just cancelled my 50k whole life policy (I still have term) with the thought that if I just put away the same money I was spending on it in an index fund it can accomplish the same goal (which was my original goal of whole life) to assist in case of C"V a passing. My question is do I just put it in a brokerage account or my retirement account (401k) to then be accessed in case of need after 59?

Does anyone here focus on day trading and swing trading or just long term investments? Would be nice to find some people to discuss trades and strategies with.

What are the best funds for long-term investing? Something I can set and forget, with automatic weekly or monthly contributions? Also, is there any reason to specifically not use Robinhood?

My daughter is starting her first job. I want to set her up properly (mostly to avoid the mistakes I've made 😂). What percentage of her paycheck should automatically go towards investments and what should those investments be?

Hi, Im new to slack. I'm looking to invest several thousand dollars now. I already have money invested in a Roth IRA and in VTI's. I'm wondering what would be the best way to invest this money.

I have an employer-sponsored HSA in FirstDollar. I'd like to invest a portion of the money (and keep the remaining for medical bills). Should I open an HSA in Fidelity, transfer the moneyn and invest over there? FD charges a small fee per month, plus I don't know what the user experience is like there. I have my other investment accounts already in Fidelity. Any thoughts?

Someone told me they're using UTMA accounts to invest money for their kids weddings. Is that allowed? Can you take money out of a UTMA account after 18 to pay for their wedding expenses?

I’m curious about what people think about this from a general perspective: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/08/democratizing-access-to-alternative-assets-for-401k-investors/. I’d love to hear opinions on if this will lead to weakening of ERISA 401k protections, forcing PE into TDFs, and other cases for negative second or third order effects.

Why on the frum finance flow chart does it say to invest in a taxable brokerage account before saving for tuition and simchas etc.? How much more should we put in a taxable brokerage account over 529’s and saving up for other foreseeable expenses?

Why I Use M1 Finance (Even Though it Doesn’t Score the Highest) I went from testing M1 Finance for work to using it in my personal investing because its niche offering filled a void in my investing plan. Here's why. Slack Conversation

I’m reading a lot about how there is an AI bubble in terms of investment. I may not be phrasing this correctly, but it seems like the major companies are making their revenues seem higher than they are because they’re all circulating money amongst each other. A lot of people are saying “the bubble is about to pop.” NVIDIA and OpenAI are asking for government investment. What do people here think about this? Is anyone thinking of selling individual stocks or funds?

I'm trying to setup automatic investment in Fidelity. My preferred way would be to have direct deposits to my Fidelity cash management account, and then have automatic transfers from the cash management account strait invested into ETF's in my brokerage accounts. Fidelity have this option via external linked account, but not from a fidelity cash management account, even plain recurring transfers between fidelity accounts is not available. How do you guys do auto investing in Fidelity?

My employer's HSA has a limitation where the first $1k cannot be invested (required to remain as cash-available). I had this HSA 2 years ago, and didn't withdraw any money from it. It just occurred to me that I'm losing the compound interest on that 1k. That'll start to add up over time. For the upcoming year I will be re-continuing contributions to that same employer HSA account, but wondering if I should sign up for an external HSA account and do periodic transfers to the external account. My employer's HSA would need to remain primary in order to get the company match & avoid extra payroll taxes, but if I regularly transfer over the money, at least my full amount of money would invested via the external account, rather than only part of it. (Obviously I can't contribute extra $ post-tax to the external account, since that would be double-dipping past the HSA limits.) Anything I'm missing with this plan? Has anyone done similar? Open to recommendations for good HSA account providers too...

Life insurance agent: Whole life insurance has the advantange over stocks, it allows you to borrow the policies cash value to envade taxes. Intrest can be covered by the polices growth. What's the catch? Is it only that stocks has by average a higher return?

I'm looking into investing a nice amount of money (100k+) for a 10 year period after that I would want to have regular liquid access to the funds. I though of just placing the money in VTI for 10 years but I fear it's too short to recover properly from a big market downturn, someone suggested I get a RILA annuity with a 10% buffer (or floor) which should protect the principal better if there is a downturn but on the other hand if the market performs well I'm not losing out too much. Does anyone have a recommendation on which path is better to take?

Similar q, I'm also in the UK. I understand S&P 500 or similar broad stock fund is best for long-term investment. I'm in the UK, the UK markets e.g. FTSE 100 under-perform the US ones. However, in the past couple of years due to the weakening dollar, the S&P underperformed the FTSE100 in pound terms. What is he best choice for a UK investor?
