I'm thinking of starting with this book. Thoughts?

We need a book on not falling for subscriptions like audible lol

Seriously though if someone doesn’t want to pay check out your local library, they might even have it as a pdf or epub so you don’t even have to go down

the book is 20 bucks, audible is 150 and lets me listen to 12 books a year

I also pay for audible, I will gladly pay double to fall asleep every night pretending I am getting smarter if there is some background noise of an audiobook while I doom scroll reddit

But that’s regarding audiobooks in general not audible, it never clicked for me which is a shame because it’s an excellent method of learning

i also pay for blinkist, 10 minute audiobook summaries of non fiction

I really liked Psychology of Money, definitely worth reading. Also if people aren't used to using the library and want audio/ebooks, check to see if you have access to services like libby or hoopla through your library. Psychology of Money is a popular book so it might not be available right now but for the most part you can access the same books completely free. I was able to get the ebook just now without even needing to put it on hold. Don't need it though; after I got it from the library the first time I enjoyed the book enough that I bought it:)

Big fan of the book and Morgan Housel’s podcast is excellent as well.

Side note I dislike Audible’s model (not just them, the whole DRM thing), I don’t want to pay for a book and just hope they or the publisher don’t decide to yank it. Physical copies all day every day.

Worth noting that Housel came out with a <https://open.spotify.com/episode/6Zzm8wKyukOiJDpkYWt9vK?si=299652a9af86422d|new podcast episode> today where he shares he’s got another book coming out in October. Could be good to keep in mind for the future

Someone once mentioned a book called "buy your butter bake your bread" or something like that

The chapter on luck and risk is basically swapped out by one phrase to be fitting with a Jewish perspective “bitachon vs hishtaduls “

I re-read the book especially for this book club and already returned it to the library a while ago :upside_down_face:

yeah sorry about the delay, with yom tov, the car accident, and starting to teach highschool it fell off the plate, my goal is someone wants to run this book club with me haha

BTW the psychologist Daniel Kahneman that is quoted in the book was a nephew of the Ponovezher Rov

Just recently found out that he unfortunately committed assisted suicide

Can I get someone to be in charge of scheduling the meeting time for this group and helping come up with the discussion topics? Please and thank you! I just haven't been able to make time to think about this.

I just started reading this.  I can start working on a topic list as I go.  Is 10 high level bullet points alright?

I think so.  I have to give a disclaimer that my toddler may bring home a plague that takes us out for a week or two.

Would a Sunday be a good day to meet or would people generally prefer a week night?
