I see M1 is being constantly promoted. Based on the rate and features I'm thinking of opening an account with them. I'm just wondering if the FDIC insurance here isn't at risk based on the story of Yotta and Synapse https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/synapse-fintech-company-collapse-bankruptcy-b2666029.html

I'm trying to collect some data on the percentage of gross household income that mortgage payments are in the frum world. Will start this myself and please post in the thread using the following format "% - Location - Year Purchased - Any notes you feel are helpful to know". Please do not include RSU's or discretionary bonuses as part of the salary.

My father wants to lower our monthly expenses by giving a lump sum towards our mortgage. Problem is that AFAIK this will not lower our monthly payments. Is my understanding correct, or is there a way to accomplish this?

Anyone good at coming up with impactful KPIs to track and coming up with ways to track them? We are doing some incredible work with frum finance that I really want to help get people excited about, but the KPIs we are tracking are not doing a good job at showing our life changing impact.

O boy, just got this email from my company. Maybe I should tell them to invest in YNAB instead? lol "Hello everyone! I’m excited to announce that the company has recently purchased the SmartDollar program on behalf of its employees. SmartDollar is a financial wellness program from Dave Ramsey, that will educate and coach employees on how to achieve their financial goals, whatever they may be. With this program, you will learn how to pay off debt faster, save money for emergencies, and prepare for retirement with the help of powerful lesson videos, interactive budgeting tools and a personalized experience. This program is 100% funded by the company, which means it comes at 0 cost to employees. A representative from the Ramsey team will explain the full program to us during this webinar. We ask that all employees attend so they can learn about this new, extremely valuable benefit. "

Starting to teach a high school finance class (and now working to help an interested middle school develop a parallel curriculum) has caused me to have an epiphany I should not be promoting financial literacy… For years, I’ve been an outspoken advocate for financial literacy in the frum community. I’ve written articles, met with hundreds of families one-on-one, hosted workshops, shared resources—all in the name of helping families make smarter money decisions. I’ve realized (or at least come to a better articulation) - financial literacy isn’t a solution. Not on its own. Financial literacy is a tool, not a goal! Used properly, it can help families build budgets, manage debt, and invest wisely. But without a strong foundation—without a Torah-based perspective on what money is for—it can easily fuel the very problems we’re trying to solve: pressure, competition, status anxiety, materialism. I’ve seen it firsthand time and time again. People learn the ā€œhowā€ of money without ever confronting the ā€œwhy.ā€ They get better at tracking spending, but worse at feeling content. They master investing, but can’t stop comparing. They earn more, but give less. Our community doesn’t need money advice. We need more clarity about what a Torah life looks like when it comes to money. What’s a healthy lifestyle? What’s enough? How do we balance hishtadlus with bitachon? What does it mean to live within our means when those means feel so different from everyone else’s? That’s why I’m going to try to shift the focus of our marketing / language (especially in the resource we are making for middle/high school). Not away from money—but toward mindset. Toward hashkafa. Toward helping people frame their financial decisions through the lens of their Torah values. Shifting more of our onboarding material to resources like Shaar Habitachon. When you get your values straight, the numbers will follow. When you don’t, no spreadsheet in the world can give you menuchas hanefesh. Good Shabbos!

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes. What is the best High Yield Savings account to join at the moment? Lower end of 5 figures, would direct deposit maybe $200-500 a month.
