This is more of a suggestion than anything else but it'd be cool if someone could get in touch with the team from tip.cc to have ergo added, they support a ton of coins and im sure they'd be willing to if someone from the team were to get in touch with them. https://tip.cc/

Thread for discussions around FPGAs What is a FPGA? A field-programmable gate array contain an array of programmable logic blocks, and a hierarchy of reconfigurable interconnects allowing blocks to be wired together. Logic blocks can be configured to perform complex combinational functions, or act as simple logic gates like AND and XOR. In most FPGAs, logic blocks also include memory elements, which may be simple flip-flops or more complete blocks of memory. Many FPGAs can be reprogrammed to implement different logic functions, allowing flexible reconfigurable computing as performed in computer software. Will FPGAs make GPUs useless? FPGAs have an edge in power consumption but GPUs should still be competitive. Whats the benefit of FPGAs? a 4090 can do 1.6Mh/w, FPGAs can get up to 3Mh/W - so 2x the efficiency of the best Nvidia cards. Are there FPGAs on the network? A couple that we know of (see below). Most likely only hobbyists at this stage for the reasons described below. How long away are we from FPGAs being competitive There is still no public miner, so even if you got your hands on one you couldn't use it without writing it yourself. Outwith that, there is a chip shortage; so unlikely to be competitive or available at scale for years. Assuming you could order a E300 at retail prices and run it today, ROI would take ~52 years. Here's a benchmark on the Osprey E300 (three XCVU35P FPGAs):

    https://lovehindpa.ws/screens/ergofpga-07102022.png▾

https://www.reddit.com/r/erg_miners/comments/rmwk9p/testing_my_fpga_at_over_3mhw/ What is the E300? The E300 is a FPGA recently listed for sale by OspreyElectronics, it has High Bandwidth Memory (specifically Samsung Aquabolt HBM2 - the same memory which is on the Radeon VII, just two stacks, not four.) and retails at $4,999.00 The E300 has Ergo listed as a 'future mining algorithm' https://www.ospreyelectronics.io/product-page/e300-180m-eth-hash-rate This led to this video being circulated.

Can we stop FPGAs? Not sure on the specifics but presumably we could alter the way memory-hardness is calculated to make it more strenuous on the FPGA design, this would make erg less efficient and require constant hard-forks to keep an edge. Should we stop FPGAs? This is for the community to decide. - FPGAs/ASICs signal support and to some extent unpreventable without constant HFs - Keeping them out is most important when emission is high. - GPUs are better for decentralisation as they are easier to access, but FPGAs are better for decentralisation as they result in robust validators. - FPGAs efficiency benefits may make it the most promising option long-term in light of energy concerns. Who's working on FPGAs? @Wolf9466 has had a functional miner since 01/04/2022 Some pictures of his FPGAs here: https://lovehindpa.ws/galleries/FPGAPics/ Some technical writings here: https://lovehindpa.ws/writings/ @BigEvilSoloMiner has also been working on FPGAs > I’ve been quietly mining both ETH and ERG with FPGAs and Nvidia GPUs. I have four different FPGA implementations for Autolykos V2, and the fifth one is still in development, so HBM FPGAs are on the network. But given their costs, GPUs still have the edge for now; it all comes down to your energy costs. I am going to be sponsoring some open source FPGA and GPU development for ERG mining.

I'm doing research on low-level blockchain functionality and could not find many references to OpCodes in the ERGO documentation, only 1 or 2 specific ones. Is there some sort of equivalent of this https://ethereum.org/en/developers/docs/evm/opcodes/ https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Script documented for ErgoScript or is there a fundamentally different approach on this chain?

Hello dear Ergo community A team of amazing people is creating swamp.audio, a tool for producers to directly stream their music with fans without the cuts of the middleman and still having the ability to pay copyright services. My suggestion for developers with an artistic side, is basically a platform, not for streaming audio, but livestreaming video as well. This will probably be crazy complicated and will take many years to develop i think, but it could be something that would help a lot of streamers, currently being ripped off pretty hard by most streaming platforms (twitch, youtube etc.) Is this a thing? I would love to hear you guys's opinions!

Over the past month ergo price pumped 70%. Difficulty has not increased but the miners revenue stayed the same. Is there a value that keeps the profitability low or that does not let profitability rise accordingly with the price action, or am I missing something? Thank you
  • Decentralization: the generation 1 dream

Decentralization is potentially the single most important feature of Blockchains. A massively decentralized store of value is a critical first-generation blockchain feature. Unfortunately, IMHO BTC, ETH, and yes even ERG has failed to deliver a growing decentralization (as measured by the MAV) as each network grows. PoW algorithms of many types have all centralized MAV's <10. Unbounded PoW energy use isn't wise. Cardano selected a centralizing plutocratic PoS RSS. Ideally, a successfully decentralized Blockchain would have an MAV much greater than the number of Fiat reserve banks in the world. To scale to a billion people it is almost necessary to have a growing MAV which is at least 1/100,000ths the user base, an MAV of 100 to 1000 and growing. I'm looking at Ergo and Cardano and asking myself... At what point is a new Blockchain absolutely necessary to restore the generation 1 promise of epic decentralization? Is a new hybrid minotaur style PoW+PoS chain necessary? A new fair ram hard CPU only PoW method and a new fair PoS RSS together?

Hello, I'm a Cardano Ambassador, SPO, and interested in the Ergo ecosystem. In fact, while doing Cardano's TeddySwap's Badger activity, I learned that it originated from Ergo's Off-chain Bot. After that, I learned how to configure Ergo nodes and Off-Chain Bot, and now I have configured. 1. When playing TeddySwap's Badger, I need 300 tADA in my wallet. Will the Offchain Bot have the required amount of Ergo in my wallet? 2. It looks like the offchain bot process will be improved by lottery draw. When will it be released? Thanks in advance.
