@kapa.ai We're generating an elementary report using
edr report
which is super useful, but is lacking in model error messages for failed models. We're running the report command in a k8s pod which is separate to the pod doing our
dbt run
, and are wondering whether that would be the cause for the missing error messages? The other thing we don't have currently is a
--days-back
/
--invocations-count
set, could that be the cause of these being missing?

Regarding your two questions: 1. Separate k8s pod for edr report The knowledge sources confirm that
edr
internally runs
dbt
commands to query data for the report. A key requirement is that the
elementary
profile in your
profiles.yml
must point to the same schema/database where your dbt run results were written. [k8s edr report] However, regarding model error messages specifically, the knowledge sources explicitly state: > The full error message and detailed debug information are not included in the OSS report UI — they are only available in the alert payload or in the dbt logs. The new incident management and detailed error inspection features (such as viewing the full dbt model build error message in the UI) are available in the Elementary Cloud version, not in OSS. So the missing error messages for failed models in the report UI is a known limitation of the OSS version, not caused by your separate k8s pod setup. [OSS debug info] 2. Missing --days-back Without
--days-back
, the report defaults to 7 days. If your failed model runs fall outside that window, they won't appear. This is worth checking, but it would affect all data in the report (tests, models, etc.), not just error messages specifically. [days-back default] Summary • The missing error messages for failed models in the OSS report UI is a platform limitation — full error details are only available in Elementary Cloud or via dbt logs/Slack alerts. • Your separate k8s pod is unlikely to be the cause, as long as both pods connect to the same Elementary schema. • Adding
--days-back
is still a good idea to ensure you're not missing data due to the default 7-day window. 👍 0 button 👎 0 button ℹ️ Tip: Mention @elementary.ai in the thread for follow-ups or DM the app for 1-to-1 help.
