Based on the knowledge sources,
Slack webhooks can only send alerts to the configured webhook channel and do not support the custom channel routing feature. According to the [Slack setup documentation](
https://docs.elementary-data.com/oss/deployment-and-configuration/slack), there's a clear distinction between Token and Webhook integrations: | Feature | Token | Webhook | |---------|-------|---------| | Multiple channels | ✅ | ❌ | This is further confirmed in a [Slack community discussion](
https://slack.com/archives/C02CTC89LAX/p1689593854152149) where a user tested webhook authentication and found they could not route alerts to custom channels. A support staff member explained: > "Each webhook is for a specific channel, therefore you will need to pass a different webhook url (by the channel you want to send the alerts to)" The custom channel configuration (using the
channel
metadata in your dbt project) only works with the
Token integration method. With webhooks, since each webhook URL is tied to a specific Slack channel at creation time, you would need to: 1. Create multiple webhooks (one per channel) 2. Run separate
edr monitor
commands with different webhook URLs to send alerts to different channels If you need to send alerts to multiple channels based on model/test configurations, the Token integration method is recommended as it supports this functionality natively.
