Hey folks blob wave. We’ve been working on replacing our current notification systems for dbt models with Elementary’s. However, a few of our analysts have requested that we leave the on success messages that we already send out. These basically give them a summary saying that their model has run successfully in x seconds. They use this in the morning for an at-a-glance check that everything went well with their pipelines. Is there any chance that Elementary will be adding this as a feature in the future? 🤞

Hi @Euan Blackledge! thanks for reaching out! It's an interesting use case, how many models do you have? receiving so many notifications won't be too much? An alternative approach for this could be to use our report summary. If you have analysts that work in domains you can use tags and send the summary to a different channel filtered on the specific domain (based on assigned tag to the relevant models). For example you can do something like -
Copy code
edr send-report --select tag:finance slack_channel_name finance-data-ops
And then -
Copy code
edr send-report --select tag:marketing slack_channel_name marketing-data-ops
Then both teams will get something like this -->

drop stoked 02 1
WDYT?

Hey! Thanks for getting back to me. I just noticed the report sending feature this morning as I began typing up some documentation for our users about the dashboard. I will go to the analysts who raised the request and see what they say. The tagging is super useful and definitely something we’re planning on leveraging throughout. As an FYI we have about 1000 models with ~3k tests covering these. Currently, we use a custom built solution that runs at the end of each airflow DAG sending out summaries of model success and failures so they’re already grouped by DAG so I think the alert for success, grouped by team/DAG/Tag would be fine for our users (and a lot prettier than our solution 🙂). But no worries for that for the moment, we can have a hybrid system if needed
