I have used the following block in my dbt_project.yml file, so that I am not running Elementary models on each scheduled run:
elementary:
    +docs:
      show: false
    +schema: elementary_data
    edr:
      +enabled: "{{ var('enable_elementary_models', false) }}"
I keep getting this error. What am I doing wrong?
23:32:03 Unhandled error while executing
'NoneType' object has no attribute 'lower'
23:32:04 Encountered an error:
Runtime Error
'NoneType' object has no attribute 'lower'

Hi @Keith Castelino! can you please share your dbt.log?
p
Hi! I have the exact same thing. Did you figure out what was going wrong here?
k
Hi @Or Avidov I didn't know you reached out. Attached is the error log I have recreated.

Hey @Keith Castelino @Paul Bakker, The error is a failure to get the schema of a relation, I'm not sure why this happens or where. I am sure that you can't use vars in your
dbt_project.yml
, so this might be related to this config somehow. If you remove the use of the var, do you get the same error?
k
@Maayan Salom I am able to get rid of the error by removing the
...enabled: "{{ var('enable_elementary_models', false) }}"
entirely, and explicitly asking dbt to exclude elementary in my
dbt build ...
commands. Would have preferred being able to configure this in the
dbt_project.yml
file itself so that the CLI calls can be simpler, but I'm able to move forward for now.
