Hi, I’ve notices that the
on-run-end
takes almost 2 minutes each time:
16:15:28 Running 1 on-run-end hook
16:17:21 1 of 1 START hook: elementary.on-run-end.0 ..................................... [RUN]
16:17:21 1 of 1 OK hook: elementary.on-run-end.0 ........................................ [OK in 0.00s]
16:17:21
16:17:23
16:17:23 Finished running 294 tests, 2 hooks in 0 hours 5 minutes and 33.16 seconds (333.16s).
Is it normal? I have set
test_sample_row_count: 0
and no anomaly tests.

interesting. For me, on github actions with BigQuery & 4 threads it's been 15s consistently. I'm not sure what are the determining factors. I've got only 9 dbt models and 23 tests.

I kinda guessing here but I think the size of the project matters. Larger projects are uploading a lot more metadata. I have almost halv of the test count of Alex, (180) and my hook is using a little over one minute.

aha, that's helpful, thank you for sharing.

I observe the same behavior even when I’m running a single model without tests. after the DBT_ARTIFACTS_HASHES query there is a 40-50 seconds delay until the next query.

@Patrick Pedersen (NAV) is correct, the length of the on-run-end hook correlates to the amount of artifacts (models, tests etc) of the project, since it uploads all of them to the warehouse. you can see our docs if you wish to disable it
