Hello! I am trying to send elementary report via slack, but am unable to get github workflow command to recognize channel name. So far, I have tried:
run: edr send-report --slack-token ${{ secrets.SLACK_TOKEN }} -ch 'private-rops-eng-monitoring' --profile-target prod --profiles-dir cicd
and
edr send-report --slack-token ${{ secrets.SLACK_TOKEN }} --slack-channel-name private-rops-eng-monitoring --profile-target prod --profiles-dir cicd
and
edr send-report --slack-token ${{ secrets.SLACK_TOKEN }} --slack-channel-name 'private-rops-eng-monitoring'
and
edr send-report --slack-token ${{ secrets.SLACK_TOKEN }} --slack-channel-name '#private-rops-eng-monitoring'
I get
Error: Got unexpected extra argument (#private-rops-eng-monitoring).
Can someone help me locate what I am missing? Thank you!

Hey there @Jasmin Hemdani! Thanks for reaching out. This could have happened if the slack token is empty. E.g the final command turned out to be
edr send-report --slack-token --slack-channel-name your-channel

Hey @Erik Zaadi thank you!! That was it! Now, its running into
— ERROR — Unable to get the latest invocation: Failed to run dbt command
Encountered an error:
argument of type 'NoneType' is not iterable
the steps in the workflow are:
setup dbt
set up dbt seed and deps
set up elementary
run elementary
run dbt test
send to slack
Any insight greatly appreciated 🙂
e
Heya again @Jasmin Hemdani! You should probably run the elementary last, after the dbt test. I'm assuming that dbt test also runs dbt as well?
j
Thanks! I can swap the order of elementary and test. Dbt run is part of another workflow. Do they need to be in the same github job?
e
no, just need to run at least once before that job. Doesn't explain that specific error message though, could you attach the created
edr.log
?
j
I swapped the order of dbt test, and elementary run and here is the log.
Hi @Erik Zaadi! Any insight from the log?
o
Hey @Jasmin Hemdani, looks like dbt fails to find the profile, do you have a profile named
elementary
configured?
j
Hey Ofek! Thanks for responding- I changed the profile and now it works well.
