01/09/2025, 5:44 AMsend-report and monitor cmd. My use case is I have a few anomaly detection tests set up in dbt, I use airflow to orchestrate when tests run. I also want to have a weekly cron job to send report to slack channel only for these anomaly detection tests (We have tons of dbt tests so I want to exclude these)
1. Trigger a dbt job. dbt test -s tag:elementary
2. Query DWH to get invocation_id by run_job_id in dbt_invocations table
3. Use EDR cmd to generate and send to Slack channel. edr send-report --select invocation_id:0f563007-a9b3-49cd-a282-9794d0df0d3b --slack-token TOKEN --slack-channel-name CHANNEL
The issue I am facing is that step 3 CLI ignore --select invoaction_id:xxxx part, but instead generate the report for all dbt tests. My questions are
1. Do I need to run dbt test --select elementary to build related tables for UI visualization every time before running edr send-report or edr monitor?
2. What is wrong with my edr send-report cmd?Noya Offer
01/09/2025, 3:02 PMedr monitor does not have an invocation filter, but can be filtered by tags (-fl tags:elementary, --select was deprecated). This way you will only get the relevant Slack alerts.
⢠edr send-report is meant to work with --select invocation_id:. If you open the attached HTML report, you will see that it only shows the relevant tables and tests. However, I see that there is an issue with the summary. As you said, it shows all recent test results without the invocation filter. Feel free to open an issue on our github and our team will fix it when they can.
⢠For visualizations, the full edr report can be filtered by tags on every screen.
