Does anyone else have this problem where it takes a wildly long time for elementary to do its inserts on run end? Im tempted to drop the package entirely since I already use select.dev's tagging system

That doesn't sound right! The first time it is expected to take longer, but after that it should using caching mechanism to speed up the process. Did you already have a succesful run and in the consecutive run it is still slow?
