hi, As a new Daft user I have a small suggestion: the docs don’t include a complete working example, so it’s hard for beginners to get something running quickly. Also, does Daft support task retries like Ray’s configuration? I couldn’t find anything about that in the documentation.
c
Hey @long gu, have you checked out https://docs.daft.ai/en/stable/examples/?
as well as https://github.com/Eventual-Inc/daft-examples for copy / paste examples
Daft support task retries like Ray’s configuration
Daft retries tasks when running distributed, in situations such as OOM or node kills

Hey @long gu , thank you so much for the feedback! Where would you like to see a complete working example? Is there a spot you were hoping would have one, but didn't?
l
@Colin Ho @Everett Kleven Great, daft-examples has rich examples. It would be better if some complete, runnable examples were organized into the documentation. Maybe I'm just used to Ray's documentation style
Daft retries tasks when running distributed, in situations such as OOM or node kills @Colin Ho Is this retry built-in? How many times will it retry? Does it not require user configuration?
c
Yes built-in, currently will retry up to 4 times. Do you need it to be configurable? If so, please feel free to open up an issue for it and we can build it out
l
@Colin Ho It is extremely necessary to set it up for user configuration. For instance, in my scenario where the resources are elastic, pod preemption may occur frequently, and 4 times is far from enough
@Colin Ho Ok, I will submit an issue
@Colin Ho i have submit an issue: https://github.com/Eventual-Inc/Daft/issues/5726

Thank you @long gu! We appreciate the feedback!
