I'm trying to debug some Azure SSO stuff and I don't see any logs in the locations mentioned here. Is there a specific command or configuration change needed for Datahub to generate logs?

Hey Andrew, Datahub should generate logs by default. How are you running Datahub and what command have you run ?
b
We're running datahub through K8s with the generic helm chart. Using lens to view the pod for FrontEnd what we see is
Copy code
/tmp $ ls
hsperfdata_datahub playtemp10790413335288583135
b
If you want to see the logs from the pod in lens, click that text like icon
the process writes the logs to stdout and it's captured by k8s
b
I'll take a look at that, thanks!

Hi! If you exec into the pods do you see the logs getting generated under:
/tmp/datahub/logs/datahub-frontend
?
d
hey, they weren’t getting generated in 0.9.3, but they are in 0.9.4
o
Interesting, I'm not seeing any significant logging changes between the two releases for frontend. There were some changes on library exclusions that could have impacted it, but would have been present for a long time and we haven't seen other reports of this. So this is resolved for you in the latest version then?
d
yea looks like it. I tried restarting, changing configurations, and a few other things, but datahub-frontend didn’t log anything to STDOUT, but spewed 10ish lines to STDERR about slf4j not being available and switching to the NOP logger. Weirdly the datahub-gms container had the same error in STDERR, but was displaying logs in STDOUT as well as errors in STDERR. One last thing: datahub-frontend seems to routing errors to STDOUT, I reported the issue about the SSO not working earlier today that y’all are working out I believe
o
Yes we're still looking into the SSO issue. Errors coming across on stdout is expected per the logback configuration

in 0.9.3

That change came in 0.9.4 which could have been the fix, yes. Not sure what would have broken it between 0.9.2 to 0.9.3 for you though.
