hi, guys, did you think about including the ability to sort terms inside a term group via some criteria (most naturally - alphabetically). i see there is a feature request kinda similar, and i've put a comment on it, but i'm not sure will this be tackled there (https://feature-requests.datahubproject.io/p/glossary-sort-in-ui). I suppose a lot of people have some naming conventions that would benefit if the system would be able to list the terms alphabetically. Otherwise we are forced to create to many nodes (term groups) just to present the related terms close to each other. correct me if i'm wrong, but currently if i'm adding terms via UI, it's usually sorted in the sequence i've entered it, but it's not always the case - is there a rule i'm not currently aware of ?

hey Nenad! yeah right now there's no specific sorting set, so it's just going to be whatever order the server returns the terms in. Like you've pointed out others have asked for similar functionality. This is on our radar and it makes sense that things should at least be sorted alphabetically by default!

yeah, doing it alphabetically would be a good choice for a default sort! in my opinion, if that would be implemented as default, further options to change the sort via UI could be of secondary importance / could wait longer until comprehensively assessed.

totally that makes sense to me 👍

Hi, Chriss, if any time soon you will decide to implement this alphabetical sort as a default in one of the following minor releases, please let me know. I'm writing a guideline on how to name and organize terms in nodes/groups cause we plan to rollout soon, so having the sense of timeline or at least possibility to have this this feature available soon, impacts my decisions (for example, i will introduce less nesting just to group some related, similary named terms; e.g. terms that relate to a business concepts attributes : customer id, customer name, etc.. would be grouped together by sort itself, without the need to introduce term groups for every concept). If and when you see that it is something that is,in fact, quick to do and fits in your upcoming release schedule, just let me know and i will adjust accordingly. If not, i will try to adjust to the current behaviour, and maybe later do a rework. Thnx.
