does anyone know if there is a plan to have a Legal Glossary ? I see that business glossary has recently been added
m
I don't know of any specific plans @jolly-tent-42863. Is that something you need? You could follow the model of the BusinessGlossary to propose a LegalGlossary .. are the concepts analogous?
j
we have defined a standard language with our legal team to tag our data for privacy purposes Looking at Bussiness Glosary made me think if legal could be approached similary will evaluate and maybe will propose an rfc
m
Sounds great! Will be interesting to see if it is general purpose enough to store these terms (and the models) in open-source.

Can Legal glossary and Business glossary be converged to one thing? What is the delta in terms of requirements?
f
not sure if @jolly-tent-42863 has the same use case but the req. diff. from the ones that I can think of: Business Glossary is a general description of a business term which may or may not be related to specific data element(s) Metric is a defined derived value from one or more data elements Legal Glossary would have general description (scope, implication, risk level, etc) and would be abstracted as a policy tag (column and/or table level) which could be mapped to many data elements
b
Got it -- so Business Glossary serves mainly as an internal "dictionary" that folks can manually refer to, whereas the Legal Glossary models policies that can be explicitly associated with data elements as tags? I guess in my mind these things are closely related. I see it as a Business Term can map to a policy tag can map to scope, implication, risk level
f
Agreed, imo legal glossary should be part of business glossary as another type of glossary. With few tweaks of properties and front-end page elements, shouldn't be too difficult to accommodate the use case.

👍

Shrishanka pointed out that I was looking for a Compliance Taxonomy rather than a legal glossary. @fancy-advantage-41244 your description of potential legal glossary elements confirms that. Though the legal glossary is still important, compliance is most critical for me now. I will be trying to figure out best way to address that need in the next couple of months. will definitely share the approach and appreciate the feedback.
