Happy Friday! I am curious how others are using the tag feature for tables and fields. My company has yet rolled out Datahub, but through previous experience of using tags (eg Jira) we thought that without proper governance the tagging feature could get messy very soon. 🙏 cc @silly-dusk-92062

Yes - @green-football-43791 has been thinking about tag governance. Would be great to understand if you have preferred workflows. @big-carpet-38439 has also been working on role-based access controls which ties into this i.e. who can approve tags etc.

Yeah RBAC can help with the underlying permissions system but sounds like a workflow modeled in the UI would make sense on toop

We are also working on expanding the business glossary feature inside of Datahub. The business glossary provides a more structured labeling system compared with tags. It would be helpful to hear what workflows you have in mind- we can take that into account as we develop business glossary.

Hi, sorry for the delayed response. 1. relating to tagging, we don't really have a particular workflow in mind. Before knowing that your team is working on role base, we were thinking of an MVP approach, which is to include in our DataHub starter guidebook tagging best practices. For example • lower case only • use _ as space • spell production in a certain way (prod or prd or production gets confusing) 2) Related to the business glossary- Yeah, our team saw that feature, and we are definitely interested in it given we have fields that are name the same with different definitions OR fields with different names but with the same definitions.
