Hello! Curious how other companies are defining the different roles in the ownership tab, especially differentiating between
producer
and
data owner
. Also what is an example of a
delegate
?

Hey @clean-cpu-43303 this is actually a really good question 🙂 I don't think we have a very clear distinction between
producer
and
data owner
... but sometimes we've used it in the streaming world of analytics events. The
producer
refers to the team that produces the event, while
data owner
might refer to the data scientist that actually proposed the event model and understands the semantics of it. We've used
delegate
in the case of operational pipeline owners like SRE-teams.
It would be good to understand how you are thinking about these roles in your company currently

Thanks @mammoth-bear-12532, We are thinking that a team is responsible for maintaining a Data Product, and we don't want to rely on one person. At this stage, we just want people to know who to contact if they have questions about the data product... so we are likely only use
dataowner
for the first phase of setup. We are not sure if we should customize the roles down the line. cc @silly-dusk-92062
