Hey Team, I am wondering how do we model the relationship between
Looker View A
and
Looker View B
if
View B
includes
View A
?

Hi @mammoth-bear-12532! Xu joined us in office hours today with this one - hoping you can help out 🙂

@mammoth-bear-12532 could you help to have a look at this?
m
are there examples of View B including View A here?

@mammoth-bear-12532 thanks for replying!! Maybe I did not use the correct word.
@gorgeous-dinner-4055 could you help clarify a little?
Kartik pointed out that what I mean should be "LookML refinements"

👋🏽 Injecting myself into this thread Xu and I work together 🙂 There's a feature called "refinement", that is not a part of the existing examples that I see. The difference is that an extension creates a copy of an existing view with modifications. Where as a refinement updates the original View
Another feature that I imagine a lot of Looker folks would find interesting is extending explores, which I also don't see modeled in the model file: https://github.com/linkedin/datahub/blob/master/metadata-ingestion/tests/integration/lookml/lkml_samples/data.model.lkml
m
got it.. so the question is : what does DataHub do when Looker view refinements are involved?
r
yes
what does the ingestion pipeline do when view refinements are involved
m
I would have to check, don't know the answer OTOH
