Hi #advice-data-governance, I am new here and got a question. How does DataHub compare to privacy focused tools like BigId, Securiti.AI or Privecera? We want to implement a data catalog that can also support Privacy use cases. Has anyone tried that before using DataHub?

What kind of use cases are most important for you? Datahub can be good at a surprising number of privacy use cases, but it'll definitely take some more creative problem solving than using a tool that's focused purely on privacy/regulatory needs

Thanks @ambitious-piano-33685 for the response. DSAR requests, data flow mappings are our Privacy use cases at the moment.

Hi Sam, • I don't think DataHub does DSAR's. This requires entity correlation which I don't think DataHub does. I couldn't find anything in any case (might be wrong though). Not sure what you mean with data flow mappings. If you mean pure lineage, then Data Hub can help, but I don't see how that is required by privacy regulations. If you need a RoPa, then you need to look for a privacy vendor like OneTrust. • BigID and Securiti.ai are specialised in Data Classification, Data Flows, and DSAR. • Privacera and www.raito.io help with access management. Privacera uses the proxy approach which is falling out of favour. Raito uses the code generation approach which is much easier to deploy, has no performance impact, and has a much shorter time to value. Question: Are you looking to improve privacy on analytical data only. Or is it also on operational data? This has big implications for the scope

Thanks @busy-dentist-64466, yes you can read data flow mappings as lineage. It's more of client contractual obligations than government regulations at this point. Our clients do privacy impact assessments and ask questions like how do we use their customers' data and if we have mapping of the same.
