Hi team, we have a requirement on access & visibility of assets that is super important to us. Ideally, we would like to somehow flag assets as private or public and depending on this flag (could be a tag or a custom property) users would be able to see assets in the public catalog or not. Only owners, admins and governance people should be able to see and edit private assets. Unfortunately, policies can currently only be bound to resource types, specific resources and domains. We thought about using private/public domains but since it's only allowed to assign one domain per asset that doesn't work. Also, it seems that even if users are restricted to view assets (via policies), assets still show up in search, for example. We would like to completely hide them from other teams to avoid polluting the public catalog with thousands of data assets that are not meant to be shared or visible to everyone. Are there any plans to offer something like this? I saw a similar feature request (https://feature-requests.datahubproject.io/p/access-visibility-options-for-entities) and there are some discussions in Slack as well. If there are no plans at all, we might look into building this and potentially contribute it back, if there's an interest for it. Would you guys be interested in that and how do you think should we go about this and align it with you? We would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.

Hi @thankful-sunset-61734 very interesting request 🙂 we had a quite similar requirement. Currently we are using tags and custom ownerships to control who can have access on which entity and create policies dynamically based on the tags/ownerships regularly. But yes its not completely working for everything as you can still navigate and find stuff you are not able to access then. So something to control that as well would be nice.

Restricting search results can be achieved with Views. A View is just a pre-defined set of filters.

Thanks for the responses. @witty-butcher-82399 unfortunetely, Views are not enough in our case as they can be switched or turned off by users. We need a way to completely hide assets from the public catalog and even the lineage graph. They should only be visible for owners or admins.
