Essentially, with the modern data mesh concept we have the following ubiquitous use case -
We can have a domain D1 which has many data products (entities) DP1, DP2 and DP3. Now, there is another domain D2 which has data products DP4 and DP5. All of these data products are stored in Snowflake. Now, we are looking for a case where D1 might need DP4 of D2 to create a new DP6. This would require D1 (the consumer) to seek approval from D2 (the producer) to get access to DP4.
There are three questions to this -
1. Can we record this approval workflow on Datahub itself (essentially one domain requesting access to a data product of another domain and the domain giving / rejecting access to its data product)
2. Can we store information about which all data products of a particular domain are being consumed by other domains.
3. And finally, if the above is possible, then by extension could Datahub, by triggering some Snowflake APIs, actually enable sharing of these data products
