So I'm not too sure where to post this, but this is a general thought on best practices. Today I was discussing with the lead developer as to what the role of QA as a function. With tools like cypress that make it super accessible for all to use, I don't see the value of having specialised testers, rather I would prefer to help a developer start writing tests pre-develop until they are self sufficient. On the other hand, I see the value of there being a squad where there are testers that stay away from the code, so they can test all the bits rather than stay tunnel focused. What is everyone elses opinion on this?
