haha sorry about that @gentle-dress-37057
I just used Writer for the first time today and agree with many of the points you made. Here are some more observations: • I actually think it might be better than Grammarly in terms of editing/proofreading (I like that it catches non-inclusive language/PC things) • the info is mostly surface level and not too helpful, definitely not opinionated or with a unique angle • it also pulled some very specific information on WPBeginners content library (I was seeing what it would generate and compared to this article we wrote on content updates) ie. "At WPBeginner, we have a library of over 2,000 articles. We generally update our older articles on a quarterly basis. For us, it's a combination of things. We have site-wide changes that we want to test (like a new design, ads, or functionality), so we use those as an opportunity to also update a few old articles. " ◦ I have no idea where it got this - I ran it through Copyscape but it didn't match anything. It's like a quote with no source, so while it's helpful and specific in a real article I probably couldn't use it • Overall: I want to try their CoWrite feature where you feed it your best work and it creates content based on that, but seems to be an enterprise feature so you'd have to set up a sales call and can't trial it (@gentle-dress-37057 have you tried this feature?)
g
Yes, we're using CoWrite and they set us up with our own company-exclusive template using machine learnings from our trial period
p
Hmm so it sounds like even with this template feature the writing still isn't good enough to publish/ still needs a lot of work
g
yup
editing agency writers and AI basically each have their own problems. right now i'm editing an agency article where the author does not know what "enterprise-grade" means and so the entire article premise is wrong
its a lot of work either way lol
p
yikes...yeah I see what you mean

Great observations here. I find there’s a big gap between what people expect with these tools and what is experienced as soon as it struggles with factual accuracy. But If you understand the limitations that you’ve described it becomes easier to get a bit of value. Sidenote: my company (byautomata.io) addresses some of these issues by analyzing complete or partial documents to use AI to repurpose them or generate material for distribution. It’s a different use case than generating a net new blog post like you’re describing, but its ability to understand niche topics, specific products, and things like statistics is a good example of the AI platforms’ ability to learn very quickly with relatively little input.
