Hi Taru we recently had a successful launch on Product Hunt
https://www.producthunt.com/products/plural-2#plural-2 - We were the #2 product of the day.
Some quick do's:
• Promote it on Social Media, Your Company Newsletter, Investors Network, etc., While you can't specifically ask for upvotes, you can ask for people to check out your product. Word of advice here (make sure you bring users to the home product hunt home page and not your direct link in product hunt (helps the algorithm)
• If you have coworkers that are going to upvote it (well they should be upvoting it) ensure they create their accounts well in advance of your launch and are active on Product Hunt. It helps build up their account as we heard that Product Hunt is frown upon new accounts upvoting products.
• Have graphics pre-made (this will help tremendously and you can use it on social media, newsletters, etc.,)
• One thing that might provide an extra boost and continue to boost your metrics would be to be layer maker comments. The way this works is that you respond positively to users that have commented on your post from multiple of your teams' profiles. This increases engagement on your post and shows that your team members are active in the conversation. If they can provide additional perspectives (for instance if a community member has asked a question) that would be helpful. If not, as mentioned above, a simple "Thanks for the support" from one of your additional team members will do.
• We also made a custom landing page to bring our users to that welcomed them from Product Hunt (it was just a copy of our home page but customized for them to make it look more personal)
Some quick don'ts:
• Wait till the last minute to get everything ready. It will not end well and no one will be prepared
• Link out directly to your product (penalizes you for this)
• Specifically ask users for upvotes
• Create accounts the day of to try to hack the system
Happy to talk about my experience in more detail with you if needed. I learned a lot from one hunt and want to pass it along!
