Looking for some Slack help. Want to build a Slack Workflow automation for our internal fund portfolio onboarding process, likely through webhooks (Airtable/Zapier). Right now I have a Slack automation setup via Airtable when founders submit the onboarding form and it just lists the tasks as bullet points in Slack. I want each bullet/task to have to be "checked off" (via an emoji reaction or something), and if we don't do it in X days (or sequentially from last task), then it will auto-remind..."hey, you still need to do this task in the onboarding!" Would love for it to connect back end to Airtable and auto-fill company/founder names (currently does this via Airtable automation), but okay if not. Is this even possible?

I love a good automation at scale, but I’m not exactly following what you’re trying to achieve once the onboarding form is completed, Allie. Could be me being sick and not firing on 100% tho 😅

Right now, the automation is 1 static bullet point to-do list. Airtable to Slack automation. I want it to be dynamic and individual where we have to "check off" each item we've done within Slack once complete. Then we can see what has been done and what is outstanding. If we haven't completed one of the tasks in 1-2 weeks, there will be an automated reminder, "you haven't done this yet!" Does that make sense?
From my initial search, it seems possible in Slack Workflows, but I haven't built any before and it feels a bit confusing

I think that could be done in 2 ways, at least off the top of my head: • If you switched from Airtable to Asana and used Asana forms for intake then had sub tasks for the to-do items from the survey you can attach due dates + owners • If you wanted to keep it in Airtable, I think I’d break make the form longer (I know not ideal but I think it’s the best way to clean this up for you on the backend. The first question would for a to-do item would be as an example, “Would you like an intro to our preferred HRIS partners?” Y or N. Then for the ones that are marked Y, I’d set a rule in Airtable to push those into another view with some mapping for context so you can you easily work from that view to bang through these items at the cadence you wish.

The onboarding process is for our fund team internally, so tasks include: • Send welcome email • Follow portfolio company on Twitter and LinkedIn • Set up Google Alerts

I’d definitely recommend you move this into Asana and have a task templated when a form submission is completed (likely wouldn’t even need a form) vs making it somehow work in Airtable. Also, you can include best practices for setting up Google Alerts and such in the description of the subtask assigned to the new team member to make it more self-serve for them vs you explaining continuously the best practices for X and how to do Y.

Ok I’ll test it out!

Lmk if you ever want me to Zoom with you and show you how I’d think about some of these items with you — always down for a working session!

Thanks, Alex. Hey Allie - we are building a Zapier integration which will help link workflows to Airtable. Curious to know more about the flow and help build it out for you.
