Man, I hate shopping for solutions. Been looking at chat solutions all day and 3 out of 5 vendors won't provide information until they can add you to their contact database. I get enough junk without adding more to the stack!

If you have google, create a + address with the name of the vendor. If they begin spamming you, just block anything that comes in to the + address. p.s. this does not work on emails I send to you just so you know, don't even try it

Thanks, managing the spam isn't the problem..That's easy.. I just got set off at Hubspot.. I created an account there in 2009 to eval their CRM. Today, I decided to create my "Free account" and got the Message - You have an account that is pending verification. lol
So I started a chat and am told - we purge accounts that are 220 days of inactivity - yeah... right.. And they wonder why Devs don't want to provide email addresses..

I think I enabled Rocket Chat for a client a couple years back. Was easier than falling out a chair

Hadn't seen that one, I'll check it out. Most of these are attached to full blown CRM Clients - which we don't need

Yeah, all of these that I am looking at have a "Paste JavaScript here" as well as plugins for most of the big platforms.

Yeah, which makes total sense. Basically they are all async JS widgets.

My client wants me to build one cuz he doesn't believe in gathering contact info for other entities - but these Agent consoles are a HUGE amount of work..

The tough part is the SMS. You could SUPER easily use HTMX to send async calls back to a CF page that pings someone and starts a chat that's tracked someplace, but that ping out to an SMS is the trick. You'd need some kind of hook.
