the wait is just because it creates a restore point in case it fups up (win 11 is much nicer)

If it was creating a restore point, I would have hoped it wouldn't continue the restart until that was done, but I have no idea if that's overly optimistic.

I have a Lenovo notebook running Windows 11- and I am in the "Windows Insider" programme. So I can install the Snapshot / beta / release candidate versions of an upcoming release. For reasons known only to MS - I have not been able to install a single update since August last year. They just keep failing. After a couple of automatic restarts - Windows just stops. The solid circle animation (as opposed to the "dotted" circle) - just stops - and nothing happens. I have left it for an entire weekend - just to see if it has "stalled" as opposed to crashed. Anyway - after manually powering down, then back up - the installation restarts - and fails again. The installer recognises it has tried twice now and reverts back to the last known working OS install. Which works really well. In fact considering even with "real" releases MS seems to treat the public like their beta testing team : I am genuinely really impressed by how well it works - and the fact that I have tried somewhere in the vicinity of 50 (different) updates - and it ALWAYS manages to revert successfully - just surprises the heck out of me for a MS product. Maybe they're finally getting good at "processes"...
