Hey All.. After not having looked for some time, I noticed CFML has placed in the top 50 languages on the TIOBE index.. for context, it had languished in the unranked “next 50” languages for several years.. It’s now above well known languages like Clojure, Elixr and WebAssembly.. (but who’s keeping track!?) https://www.tiobe.com/tiobe-index/ A credit to all those who are actively promoting the language on the web.

Weird. I wonder why: I don't mean that in a conspiratorial way, more just interested in how the landscape has changed. Wasn't it even out of the "next 50" for a while? I don't think this is a sign that it should be actively pursued unless yer one of the outfits that's stacked its eggs into this one CFML basket, or yer in a safe govt/legacy-mindset job that's not going anywhere (I mean that in a coupla different ways), but hey... it's more popular than [checks notes] Scheme. And almost as popular now as OCaml. Heady stuff. PS; does this mean as a CFML community we're now supposed to stop saying "TIOBE index [spit] what do they know?" 😉

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical of a list that essentially puts Dart, Scala, and D all on equal footing... and with everything outside the top 13 being < 1%, I feel the "margin of error" involved in any statistical analysis has to make those rankings pretty suspect.

Yeah, I’m not quite sure what the terms “top language” or “rankings” actually mean.. It was a curious observation more than anything.
