@nickg I have done some work with CF and quickbooks. This is a someone complicated process and found a company that was able to make the whole process really easy. The company name is AAATex Corp (https://aaatex.com/). They make the process easy as you can create the necessary information to be imported via CF and then run a process on your server to upload the data. You can ask Jack Charrette and tell him that you got the information from Drew Nathanson. He may remember me. I did work with a separate QB tool to do import which you have to create an XML file and then run. It was NOT very graceful but it did work. Let me know how you make out.

I think he's talking about the QuickBooks online API - but I agree with you @drewnathanson that the ODBC tools out there to connect with QuickBooks Desktop are pretty awful.
n
@drewnathanson @David Belanger Yes, to confirm, this is for QB Online, not client-server QB
d
I believe he is now doing the on-line version as well as QB is moving to on-line versions and I'm assuming that they will stop the client/server version in the future.
He is a good guy and extremely knowledge about the whole process.

@drewnathanson thanks! I'm taking a look at his site now and will connect with Jack if it looks like a fit
I wasn't thinking of getting a new product into the mix at this point (which I think is what he provides) but maybe they do consulting too (as we build our more basic integration)

@nickg I get it. I had the same thought on my system but it quickly became apparent that I needed to move in a more open direction. We had over 1200 invoices to create on a monthly basis and the short idea would have been great for a small number but once you get that many items, the short game falls apart rather quickly. We also had some clients where credits or discounts had to be applied and other things and it finally became a game changer. QB didn't make connecting to their system every easy.

@drewnathanson I've contacts that company. In our online platform, we have online (and sometimes offline, ie checks) transactions coming in like donations, event registrations, store purchases, etc. We would want to be able to transfer those to a client's QB online account. When we did this with QB offline some years ago, we mapped our transactions to a QB account chosen by the client so that the transactions would be logged to that account. No invoice was involved, I don't believe. I'm not sure if that's a scenario that the current QB api allows. So, that is one question we are investigating.
d
@nickg I'm sure your situation is totally different than mine. I guess the question is, what is the volume of these transactions. Not sure I can give you an answer but I'm sure that Jack (if he is still there) can help. I remember Jack and company being very helpful. Again, my situation was totally different.
