Question: I had a friend who has a client ask him this: The have a CF11 instance and the have a question about updating their Java on that machine. From the Customer: "_When trying to locate the jdk’s from Oracle’s website, they are only offering up to Version 8 update 321, and Version 11 update 14. Do you happen to have an idea on how best to proceed here in getting our Java versions updated to a secure instance? Do I need to reach out to Adobe specifically on this_?" I have never used CF11 and I know its old is there an option for CF11 to use some of the later Java libraries or is the best suggestion for them to update to a newer CF version?

@malllory.woods They should update it to use the latest Java 8 builds.
Also, I'm a little confused when they mean when they say
they are only offering up to Version 8 update 321
What do they mean by "only"? Are they asking about a later version of java 8?
Adobe usually updates their download page a while after versions come out. 8 update 321 isn't that old for starters
But if they really really want the bleeding edge 8 builds, they can just get them from Oracle

I think they are asking we saw support up to update 321.

Adobe usually only links to the versions they've specifically updated

Of course this means they will have to pay for those right?

So that is what I thought, that there were only specific versions that Adobe has "blessed"

An Adobe CF license covers the Oracle java license
👍 1
But that is largely moot so far as I know since Oracle walked back their licensing changes
but really, their focus on java is a waste of their time. They should be much much MUCH MUCH more concerned about the crazy old version of CF they're on
2
It poses far more of a security threat than a few java updaters behind IMO
