Using this keyboard now > DasKeyboard 4 Ultimate I love it. And hate it sometimes. Might need to add 2-3 stickers on it to cheat for a while for some orientation as I need to switch between German, Swedish/Norwegian and well, US English and why square brackets and curlies and what not needed in programming are in wildly different places annoys me. 😬 Passwords are fun to type.. thank goodness for PW managers, lol.

This would definitely not work for me... I could type the regular characters and the 10key fine probably, but I always forget which of the special characters are on which number key.

I started down the mechanical keyboard rabbit-hole last year. I’m going to need a bigger closet as my collection is growing rapidly…

I have that keyboard, but I wasn't brave enough to go without labels. I love that the prop to angle the keyboard is a removable ruler.

isn't that cheating to start with no labels, are you meant to bikeshed until they are all blank?
a
Haha @domwatson has one of these or two i'm not sure
d
Yes I had two of those for a few years. They're great - really force you to touch type.
I now have a custom key colour coded set on top instead (with labels)
And yes - tricky passwords were a pain!
d
I would have to swap WASD keys to be red or something just to break up to monotony

@domwatson sounds interesting, have you got a picture? and/or recommendation which key caps fit? kinda thinking of getting just a few "replacements" to avoid having the keyboard viewer open on the other monitor ;-)

Then again when it comes to keyboards I am a monster, I love my apple magic keyboard chiclet garbage for development. Just can't do it for gamign

Really looking forward to trying out the new MacBook Pro M1 keyboard (14", but they're the same size on either) in about ... six to eight weeks. Heard it's good - but the Cherry MX keys of this one are just so sweeet to type on ❤️
d
I used WASD Keyboards @Jonas Eriksson - they have an online tool for setting your colours + can also download/upload a template with what you want on the keys...

I ordered the "105-Key ISO Custom Cherry MX Keycap Set" which you can customize
(and fits perfectly)

Cool, thanks!

My keyboard is trying to look like that - there's 10 stealth keys on it. It didn't come like that but it's now considered high-mileage I guess.

Anyone have a macro pad they recomend? Not looking for development but most of the ones I find are in upper 70-90 dollars and at that price I might as well buy an elgato.
j
@deactivateduser I've recently looked at the Elgato Stream Decks as well, as there seems to be a zillion things one can use them for. But currently hovering between "it's cool, I want it" and "I don't really need another thing on my desktop". 🧐
d
I am in a similar boat, which is kinda why I want a small cheap macro pad to see if I actually could use it effectively or if it would just be a paper weight.
