I bet I'm supposed to know this, but when I'm working in another app and/or on another machine, hear the little Slack alert sound, and come back here, what's the easiest way to find the conversation that just updated, across all channels I'm subscribed to, and all their potentially-threaded conversations?
m
"Threads"? Or maybe "All Unreads" under "More"?
r
I use the “All Unreads” entry in the left nav panel or the “Threads” entry right below it if it is highlighted.
d
Hmmm. What exactly is the Threads node? This conversation for instance doesn't show up there for me. It also has the super-annoying infinite-scroll thing going on, bleh. All unreads isn't lit up for me either, in spite of the fact that I just saw a popup for Mark Takata's post about search Slack go by, but haven't read it.
m
When I clicked on the notification for your message, @Dave Merrill, I noticed "Threads" was bold for just a moment, so maybe you just missed it?
d
Well this conversation did show up in Threads a while later. Maybe it's just a latency thing. I'll give that a try for a while.
s
don’t forget to clean out your internet cord, sometimes stuff gets stuck in the pipe lol

Actually, the sound just went off twice. Threads is still highlighted but I can find anything there I haven't seen. All unreads isn't highlighted, and shows nothing when I go there. Maybe I'm being stoopid, but this bit of functionality seems pretty funky/disfunctional to me.

Moral of the story, don't work on a second laptop, or if you do turn the sound off on the first. Problem solved. 😉

@Peter Amiri Yeah maybe, but my dev life is RDP, and my Slack, email etc are on my home laptop. Oh well.
