In my application.cfc file I've set up a request.emailsettings struct that contains all the vital info for connecting to my exchange email. I use for various purposes like updating, error reporting and the like. When I setup the exchange account I used godaddy as a third party to to get the exchange services. This was several years back. I stumbled across the fact that I could deal directtly with MS for those services but it still took a couple of years to switch. Then all my update services went dark. Took me a bit to figure out MFA has changed CFML engines ability to easily interact with exchange services. Does anyone know a good solution for this issue. A link to a walkthrough, or explanation, advice, etc. . .

We use a local (tiny) Docker container for an SMTP relay. The SMTP relays out there are pretty good about configurations for popular email services and it's easy to maintain. We set it up on our local network with no auth but only our CF server can connect to it at all, so our app code isn't concerned with authentication. The other option would be to use a service intended to be accessed from an application (e.g. mailgun) as these are usually more flexible about how they're accessed versus consumer services that have an interest in keeping automated solutions out.

hmail server or the smtp server that ships with xampp if you are developing on windows. On linux, just posfix or sendmail as an STMP relay and then on your Azure Domain, accept the ip connection from your server.

I like the idea of a local relay. I look into it. Thank you both.

It also speeds up the processing on the CF side because it's dumping all the mail to a host on the local network, and then the relay can spend all the time it wants actually delivering
