Does anyone know what the new pricing for ACF subscriptions will be? Is it documented anywhere? I am struggling to find how much it is going to cost for the subscription.
p
Probably wont be told in advance imo but @Mark Takata (Adobe) may have insight

We are now under a time crunch to determine if we should buy ACF2023 before sales send or if we'd be better off waiting. I am not going to assume that we would be unhappy with the subscription model. But without knowing the pricing, we can't make that decision. If my buy ACF 2023 Ent right now and find out that waiting for the new pricing would have been better, I am going to be pissed. If I wait and find out that ACF subscriptions are ridiculously high in price, I am also going to be pissed. It's a pretty bad situation to be in.

Well it is a public company that is always pushing toward profits so I imagine pricing is going to be over the top. Personally I would say upgrade to 2023 ride out and work towards a transition to Lucee if possible.
j
That is exactly our tentative plan if we are unable to find some answers. We've already started testing and modifying for Lucee, but we won't have that complete before we need to make the ACF decision.
d
I'm being asked about this too of course, for budgeting. Lucee is off the table here, but don't want to get blindsided by Adobe, or find out that their lack of transparency led us to make decisions we can't afford as a non-profit.
p
@Jason Dean 2023 Should buy you a few years until EOL (2028) and shift to Lucee…depending on your apps, it is usually pretty seamless move. Test it out quick/easy with commandbox.
@Dave Merrill what cuts you guys out of Lucee usage? I am curious when I hear this and its not a gov agency (I assume).
d
No but it's a 2k employee non-profit. They want "real" contracts, agreements, etc. We also have 2 pretty big apps, built over many years by many people, not easy to migrate or test exhaustively.
g
They will probably offer a discounted "first time" subscription price for anyone who buys ACF2023 (or at least I hope)

It isn't announced publicly yet. Anyone who tells you the price doesn't actually know, as final approvals from Finance are pending (you'd be amazed at how complicated the different options get internally on pricing). But the pricing shouldn't be too surprising. Also, don't quote me, but I believe we've gotten approval for support being rolled in (not just the most basic, which is what you used to get without a support contract, but like... really solid support). When you figure all that in, plus all the benefits of the sub (always have access to latest versions, more frequent updates, etc.) I think the customer experience will be much nicer.
@gknight those folks that are on an M&S contract on CF23 which overlaps will get transferred into the sub (but can continue to use CF23 if they wish until they are ready to migrate).

hmmm .... sounds pricey. Will there be an option without support? Some of us have never really even used support.

@Mark Takata (Adobe), Follow up question regarding the existing licensing. I am planning an app deployment for Microsoft Azure App Services. I plan to deploy the app on TWO four-core app service instances behind a load balancer. For that scenario, do I need ONE ACF ENT license (8-cores) to cover the eight cores across two app services? Or or do I need TWO ACF ENT licenses (8-cores), one for each app service regardless of the fact that they are only four cores each?

@Mark Takata (Adobe) just today I got a question from a client in regards to upgrading their 21 license to 23, especially since the #CAJFR82Q4 folks are having a great last minute sale. I told them that you guys are switching to a subscription model. Adobe, should really try to do better and at least give some insight into some type of pricing. 50% off is a great deal, but it still is for a license that will eventually be out of support and to a client, it might feel like a waste of money if there is no special incentive once the subscription model comes out that washes away what they just spent ( for that they just wait it out and/or ... you didn't hear this ... make a switch to an open source solution ... )
