I feel like a few people said that there was a way to export the cfconfig file from the Lucee Admin in 6.1 and 6.2... Is that actually the case? I'm only seeing the ability to export the Application.cfc from the admin, but I might be looking at the wrong place...

Yeah, I am exploring this too. The Lucee docs say... "A best practice is to configure Lucee through the administrator, then export the .CFConfig.json file as a base for future installations." But I don't think there is a way to export directly from Lucee. However you are right, you can export an Application.cfc. It makes sense to set configurations in the CFConfig file rather than the Application.cfc. As Lucee says, whenever possible. They also mentioned you can place a customized CFConfig file in the lucee-server/deploy directory that is picked up during startup. I have not tried that, but it apparently works with Lucee 6.1.1 and above.

If you're using the CFConfig CLI in CommandBox you can export it with
cfconfig export
but you can also just copy that file manually out and into another installation as well

@bdw429s -- this is not a commandbox install.
yeah, I can download the file... but then I have to muck with it to only grab the settings I need to move over.

CFConfig can export configuration from ANY CF install 🙂
q
IF you install it, and all its dependencies.

Yes, without CommandBox this will be a manual process. If it helps, custom CFConfig does not have to include everything, only the things you need changed.

CommandBox is only a single .exe, but yes, you would need to have it installed to use it. I just wanted to make the point that CFConfig can be used on any server, even if it's not a "CommandBox" server

(side note -- in this case, I was trying to capture the REST endpoint configurations from a server where we didn't have console access. CommanndBox CFConfig does not export those settings, and plus we would still need to have interactive terminal access to run it.)
