Hey folks! I want to let you know that the open beta for Adobe ColdFusion 2025 will be opening for signups this Friday, November 22nd whenever I can drag my rear end out of bed in the morning PST. The actual beta itself opens December 1st. Here's some info about the beta: 1. If you were part of this year's ALPHA, you are automagically in the BETA. You will get an email regarding this on Friday, and a message on Dec1 letting you know when the new files go live. 2. We are doing WEEKLY PRIZE GIVEAWAYS for the best ER/Bug Description for that week's focus. The focus will be announced each Monday morning on the forums. Details will be announced this Friday when the signups go live. 3. There will be TWO beta drops: one on December 1st, and another on January 1st. A list of all of the features for each drop will be released this Friday (we're still trying to get as much as possible into Beta1). 4. The forums for the alpha are NOT being destroyed (you're welcome). The old ones now say "(ARCHIVED)" but your old posts are still there. There will be new "beta1" and "beta2" versions. When beta2 drops, the old archived alpha channels die a horrible death, so make sure you back up anything you need from there like banana bread recipes or whatever else @carehart posts in there. ๐Ÿ™‚ 5. This is an OPEN BETA. I will post a link that anyone and everyone can click to join. We are encouraging sharing the link out to your coworkers and community friends. Or enemies. I'm not judging. 6. When the beta drops you will not only be getting documentation but some "playground" apps that show off what you can do with CF25 features (so, more than just "hello world" code samples). I made two of them. If you don't tell me you like them you're disinvited from my holiday party. ๐Ÿ˜› 7. IN ADDITION we are doing a large number of hour long deep-dive webinars on every single new features, plus a few extra, and an "overview" webinar where I'll be letting you know what is coming.

Is there a list of the planned features of ACF25 yet?

In case anyone may be trying to interpret Mark's quip about me, I do post only questions or comments related to the prerelease in those forums--no recipes, not even banana bread, though I do like it! :-) And of course I love hearing Mark's news here about the coming beta's.

I guess I'll have to post the recipes. New job title: Senior Technical Recipe Evangelist ๐Ÿ˜„ Who wants pancakes?
c
Are they... Bacon pancakes? Makin bacon pancakes? Here's perhaps the cutest earworm ever, for those not already in the know:

@Mark Takata (Adobe) our team is looking forward to the beta signup link. Maybe pancakes got in the way? lol

@Mark Takata (Adobe) may I ask if the beta sign up link/email has been sent out to the alpha participants yet?

c
woot woot!

Sorry @Monte Chan this morning has been a miasma of chaos haha.

I think you mean Mimosas with the pancakes

Brunch on Fridays is a thing. Right? ๐Ÿ˜„
Apologies all, I am waiting on the prerelease site team to service my ticket. The link should be working but for some odd reason the server isn't accepting it. Looking into why now.
Also please keep in mind that if you WERE in the Alpha program, it is the same site. Same page. Same everything. You already have access. The link is for NEW folks only.

Just saw this, now I am drooling.
m
May I ask if there is an eta on the beta link please? Is it really not working? Or is it erroring out only for those people who are already in Alpha?
m
OK here's what's up. If you are already in the alpha, it is going to error. Stupid decision decision by the team that built that. I'm gonna re-write the post. Here's the deal: 1. If you're in the alpha already, go to adobeprerelease.com and log in. You should see the CFNext prerelease. Click in there, you'll see the message about the beta coming. 2. If you're NOT already in the alpha, click that link and join. I believe that should work. If you're not sure if you are in the alpha or not, go to that prerelease site and try to log in. If nothing shows up, you're not in. So clicky linky beta yay. If CFNext is there, woot++.
c
Just a heads up, I'm not part of the alpha (or I didn't think I was). However, I am part of the adobeprerelease.com site from previous releases. So when I click the invite link, it gives me the this link is no longer valid error. But if I go to adobeprerelease.com I see the "View Program" button for "CFNext Prerelease".
c
While such link issues are being sorted out, it may help to remind folks that the beta is in fact NOT yet started. Even if you DO get to the CFNext prerelease page (https://www.adobeprerelease.com/beta/48C2D737-9CB4-445E-E39C-90CB6381919A), it reports (as Mark noted above) that we should: "_Please stay tuned for the impending launch of the open beta (drop 1) on December 1st, 2024._" So even if things are slow to be resolved in the coming holiday period, it's not until Sunday that you'd be "missing out" ๐Ÿ™‚

It was also pointed out to me that if you click "close" on the error, the home screen pops up with the program.
c
So, Chris, are you now seeing the message about the beta not starting until Dec 1? I realize your message appeared right as mine did, so you would not have seen it before you wrote.
c
Yep... that's a good reminder for everyone. I was aware though. Thank you.
c
Cool. And we'll all be "makin' bacon pancakes" with the beta soon enough ๐Ÿ™‚

That needs to be the official logo... just say'n
