Our server just started bouncing to our maintenance page and I'm getting a weird error when I login to the server anr run any box commands. CommandBox 5.9.1 on Windows behind IIS. I'm feeling quite lost about where to start.
n
What does your
serverInfo.json
look like in
Users\xxx\.CommandBox\server\{{someID}}\lucee-{{someVersion}}
? The error suggests that it's somehow truncated or corrupted.
j
We have a different home location and the file there is just server.json...

It may well be simplest to do
server forget
then
server start
- that should regenerate the config (I think). Alternatively you could post in #C06TSRXCJ and wait for the USA to wake up 🙂
j
The
server forget
triggers the same error 🙃 Thanks so much for contributing. Days like these make me think I'm in the wrong game. Still, first time the server is down in over a decade so that's good I guess.
n
https://github.com/Ortus-Solutions/commandbox/blob/development/src/cfml/system/services/ServerService.cfc#L3002 yeah server forget calls getServers() which is where your issue is being thrown. You could try and rename the server home folder, then just try server start.
j
Same error 😑
n
Ah, ok, think I've worked it out. there's a
servers.json
file which references all the servers in the system. You could try backingup that file, then changing the contents to
{}
, then trying server start
j
Well, it started. I'm not sure what it started 😃

Basically, as you removed the definition of that server, it started a new one. So you should see a second server home folder next to the old one now ( which can be removed)

I don't see the new server (same old folders). Everything looks to be back up. I'll keep digging and testing. You don't play with this stuff for a couple of months and I've forgotten everything. 🤓
n
Well, the important part is the service is back up 🙂
j
So far all tests coming back green. Great work persevering @neokoenig Thanks SO much.

Yes, the
servers.json
had gotten truncated for some reason. The power may have been lost while writing the file or something
