Is there an extension I need to have installed in order to use xml functions (like
xmlNew()
) in a Lucee 6 Light installation?

Interesting. I'm getting an error just trying to use
var xml = xmlNew()
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException Property 'http://javax.xml.XMLConstants/property/accessExternalDTD' is not recognized.
This is on 6.0.0.585. I will update to the latest and see if that fixes it.
Nope

Might depend which flavor of Lucee you are installing. version 6 offers some installs which do not include any extensions. Does your installed version show the XML extension is loaded or not?
s
I am using the Lucee Light flavor so yeah, it does not have many extensions loaded. But I do not see an XML extension available in the admin.

I was thinking maybe the Axis extension was required but honestly I don't think it is for just
xmlnew()
s
yeah, same. I'll try it though, what the heck
m
Which Java flavor are you using? Maybe it is missing the properties
s
OpenJDK 21, and I also tried 22

Maybe this is related regarding OpenJDK 17+ - https://stackoverflow.com/a/77792589/1636917 it's a bit over my head though

I will try rolling back to an earlier OpenJDK and see if that gets me anywhere...
Thanks @miguel-f that was it. Rolled back to OpenJDK11 and it works. I'll open a Lucee ticket

Glad you got it working
