About 15 years ago I built a tool to harvest Craigslist searches for "Coldfusion" jobs or gigs worldwide. It has become increasingly hard to hit the craigslist OPML/RSS feeds, but I am able to do it. But there don't seem to be any posts looking for Coldfusion help. I used to find customers with custom web applications in a wide range of industries needing support. (I worked a few years for a client with an Alpaca Husbandry database service!) Where can I find these clients today?

I just searched indeed.com for the Bay Area, California and there are no CFML/ColdFusion jobs listed at all. dice.com seems to have a couple (but they seem to be consulting shops and it's unclear from the job descriptions whether they're primarily CFML jobs or just accepting applications from CF devs). monster.com has no CFML/ColdFusion jobs in this area. I didn't search for remote jobs, but I did sort of expect to find some CF jobs in the Bay Area since it once had the largest CF user group in the world... 😞

I'm sure the economy hasn't helped, but the lack of promotion of CFML hasn't helped either. From my perspective, if you want clients, you might consider pivoting to more popular languages. Or promote your services, rather than the language. Mark Takata said sales of CF licenses have gone up, which might be true, but it is really hard to believe. I'm sure you know there are now a bazillion choices for developers... with javascript frameworks taking the lead. We all need to roll with the punches.

https://jooble.org/jobs-coldfusion is another spot with some positions.

It was just great on Craigslist. Those were clients just ready to get something done. Not recruiters wanting to talk on the phone all day...

I advertise my skills in php, python, js, as well as ruby, perl and vb!.3 months ago I got an on-call position with Oracle PLSQL! It doesn't pay much, but I'm thankful.
