I tried upgrading Lucee to the latest from the admin and it failed with "We're sorry - An Error Occurred". Now the admin page simply displays this error message. The site(s) seem to be running fine, just the admin is broken ATM. Where do I start?

I would give more version info, but the admin page is broken. Linux. Ubuntu.
The only logs I have found so far that show any indication of an error is an localhost_access_log. It appears everything is fine until the server update request, then 400 and 404 errors.
If you're using IIS, turn off friendly error messages temporarily, you might get better errors

I had the same problem and have heard of many others having the same. Some have suggested simply restarting Lucee resolved the issue, but that did not work for me (also ubuntu and apache) and I couldn't find any other solution. Ended up removing and reinstalling Lucee using the latest production installer to resolve.
Not ideal, but was my experience.

fwiw, from what I've gathered the issue is the server is not completely shutting down for the restart to grab the lco and upgrade. which is why sites continue to run but the admin is borked.
This is why some have suggested a restart.
Others have suggested in the future to use luceectl stop and then stick the lco in and luceectl start to ensure this doesn't happen (which is what I'll be doing until I know this issue is resolved in 6)

⢠sudo systemctl stop lucee_ctl
followed by
⢠sudo systemctl start lucee_ctl
manually seemed to fix it for me. I was just a little concerned that the start would not work and kill the live sites. This morning the main business is not yet open so I warned them of possible downtime. Luckily they did not experience much - maybe 30 seconds.
