Does anybody know if it is possible to execute a function every x minutes (cron-like expression) from within a component that is stored in the application scope, without the use of cfschedule or some sort?

This would be awesome if i'd be using coldbox. However, I am not. Ortus is by default my go-to-solution for almost everything cf related, but in this case I'm steering clear of that route.

You don't need Coldbox.
You can pull it from any one of their standalone products - cachebox, logbox, or wirebox.

Okay, that changes the case. Do you happen to know if the async code is compatible with acf 2016,
(yes iknow, it's EOL, but we're dealing with very very stubborn management...)
Unfortunately, it does not seem to be working. Compiler keeps complaining about a missing ";" somewhere... 😞

Try ColdBox 6
Well WireBox 6
It's there too

Possible using the Sleep() function inside an infinite loop?
