Greetings ACF Community! ColdFusion 2021 on Windows 2012. In order for CF Update 12 to work properly for us, we've been instructed by Adobe to use the MSSQL Driver provided by Adobe instead of the driver provided by Microsoft. In switching back to this cf-native driver, I have started seeing these error messages in the coldfusion-out.log that we never had before. I haven't had a chance to dig into causes or reproducing the error, but so far it looks like we're flooded with these (several per second, in our staging environment, as well my local environment) and i wanted to put this out there quickly to see if anyone else has encountered this. These all appeared within one second:

I don't have any real insight into what might be behind the errors but as someone who has used the Microsoft SQL Server JDBC drivers for years, I would be curious what was the basis for the Adobe team's recommendation to go back to the bundled drivers and what problem(s) that change was intended to address?

@Marc Funaro Did Adobe give you any other instructions for getting U12 working? We were already using the bundled driver, so our circumstances are different, but I was given another set of steps to take. I haven't fully test them out, but on the one server where I tried them, they worked. What was the original problem you had with U12?

The problem with CFU12 combined with the MSSQL driver provided by microsoft was that the GENERATEDKEY that was in the resulting Struct of a QueryExecute was removed entirely. There may be other changes, but that's the one that broke our app, and Adobe insisted we use their driver if we want support.

You can install updates two ways - through the admin UI and via command line / file management, in a much more manual process. I only did the admin UI steps, and when we tried to roll back the update, 3 of our 4 non-prod servers were totally trashed to the point of needing to reinstall CF entirely.

@Marc Funaro Thanks for the background on that; where we don't use the generated key option on any of our datasources, that likely wouldn't be something we bumped into but it's also good to know.

Off topic, but I believe Adobe needs to remove the ability to install updates from the Admin UI. It seems to cause more problems than it's worth and it only works if the recommended lockdown procedure hasn't been done.
