I am wondering if anyone can give me suggestions on something I haven’t had the need to deal with in a long time — it may be kind of stupid question that may only be sort of related to ColdFusion: I am in a situation where I am developing ColdFusion on my Mac, and otherwise there is a Windows production server on AWS. The question is basically, what would be the most typical/secure method for moving files to the production server. (The server doesn’t have FTP installed, and maybe that’s a good thing.)

I'm using DeployHQ which for me is super easy to set up to automatically push changes to a production or preview server, whenever the repository/branch I have worked on locally is pushed to the GitHub repository.

Easiest move would be to use some sort of GIT workflow. It instantly give you trackability of files and a secure way to move stuff over. More advanced ways include starting to build some sort of CD pipeline -> CI/CD pipeline to start to do integration and tests against your code so you know you aren't breaking things when you deploy. With that maturity, it gets you closer to building in containers, etc.

Had a look at something like Code Deploy on AWS?
