been a long time, trying to upload a file outside of webroot, if i remeber correctly do i need to create a Mapping or something in Application.cfc file to handle it i forgot how to do this, did this quite a while back,

You mean the destination - where you want to save the file - is outside the webroot? Because like uploading a file... kinda intrinsically it's "outside of [the] webroot", as it'll be on the client computer...

(https://docs.lucee.org/reference/functions/fileupload.html) takes a full path for the destination. it doesn't care about web roots or anything to do with the web server or application server. Just file system and permissions therein.
