i would like to connect to a gmail account with coldfusion and pull down emails. I know google has upgraded authentication for email retrieval. i have seen places that mention “allowing less secure apps” in order to make a default mail server connection. Im just looking for the correct way to implement mail retrieval from gmail, and if there is a module or example out there using the oauth 2 method.

Hi Scott - Have you worked with Oauth before? Once you get the mechanics of how that works, then you can use the regular Google API to interact with mail.

@Scott Steinbeck You'll need to create an app specific password on your Google Account. They bury it under 2 Step verification. 1. Go to your Google Account admin 2. Security 3. 2-step verification 4. App passwords (at the bottom) 5. Create a specific password for your CF App You should then be able to use this in CFMAIL, or POP / IMAP mail down
